As a people we are great at stories, make believe, fantasy, etc. But without a good, solid foundation, where do we come in to land or do we just always dwell in fantasy?

We all love a good story

Everyone loves a good story, fact or fiction, stories can communicate deep things that cold hard facts can not do so easily.

Stories must be based, with some sort of reality, if people are to truly get into them. Therefore stories such as the 'if a car crashes into a wall while driving on a dark night, but nobody sees or hears it - does it really make a sound?' are so abstract that it is almost impossible to understand, and doesn't have much success on the open forum.

The Road To Insanity

It was a fiery arguement that night. Rob grabbed his sports bag and slammed the door behind him, disappearing off to his new sports car. The engine fired up, wheels spinning, even throwing up the shingle from the drive of their country mansion, pinging the kitchen window.

Rob normally loved driving, changing swiftly and confidently up and down through the gears, maneuvreing round the contry bends with the percision of a police driver. But tonight, things were different. The red mist of his anger blinded his normally sharp judgement, meaning his driving appeared more like an aggressive learner driver than a man of skill and confidence.

Careering around a bend, needless to say too fast to stop, Rob noticed the shimmer of a reflector, then several reflectors - it was a family out cycling!

The bicycles were no match for the car… read the full story here

A Driving Course, In Due Course, Of Course!

How much do driving courses cost these days? I've friend who makes it their business to get free driving lessons. How does she do it? Well, not in a very good way at all!

She phones up driving instructors who offer intensive driving courses and asks them how many hours he or she thinks that she will need. When the instructor asks for details about he previous experience, then she answers as vaguely as possible. More often than not, the instructors will offer some sort of a free assessment session (lesson) at which point the instructor would be able to give a more exact idea of how many hours she will need.

At which point, after the assessment, she phones up the next instructor, and so on, and so on! Cheeky so and so! (Her name is Dionne and she lives in Harrow -in case there are any driving instructors reading this!)

Third Car Lucky

This one is a true story, and a right old pain! I am currently on my third car, of the same make, of the same model and the same colour!

When I collected the first car I had to sign for it to say that I have received it in perfect condition. Therefore I was very fussy and looked over it in very fine detail. As I inspected it there was something very obviously wrong with how they had polished the car. Therefore when I was happy with it, as a goodwill gesture, I asked them to give it another wash and wax to get rid of the funny pattern that the previous waxing had caused - which would save me driving home with a funny pattern on the side of the car.

When they gave it back to me it was just as bad as before, which caused alarm bells to ring! So back it went again to be washed and waxed.

When it came back to me for the third time it was aparent that there was something deeper wrong with the paint work. The sales man began to sweat.

This saga went on, and the second car, and then I finally accepted the third as 'as good as it is going to get'.

I will tell you the the rest in a bit.
